How British air power is structured
Two operating services
The RAF and the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm share the F-35B fleet, flying from RAF Marham and the Queen Elizabeth-class carriers.
Built in partnership
The UK builds the Typhoon through the Eurofighter consortium with Germany, Italy and Spain, and is a Level 1 partner in the F-35.
What comes next
Tempest, developed with Italy and Japan under the Global Combat Air Programme, is planned to replace the Typhoon from the mid-2030s.

Can you fly a British fighter jet?
Not in a frontline type. British-built classics such as the Hawker Hunter and de Havilland Vampire are not currently available, but you can fly the L-39 Albatros from Sion, Brno and the Italian Alps.
